Aerospace Composite Bonding & Release Breaker Tape

This multipurpose high performance product is commonly used in the aerospace and wider composite industries for vacuum bagging, resin infusion, and pre-preg processes where it is used for holding bagging consumables in place, joining temporary barriers, masking molds, taping flash lines on molds and providing an instant temporary release surface on material.

One of the more common uses is for autoclave cures in which the tape can easily be removed after cure. Vacuum bagging is widely used in the composites industry. It is a technique in which you create uniform pressure to the surface of the object inside a bag, holding parts together while the adhesive cures. Pressurizing a composite lamination removes any trapped air between layers and provides pressure that prevents shifting of fiber orientation during cure while also reducing humidity and improves the fiber to resin ratio in the composite part.

This is a blue translucent polyester multi-purpose tape available in various thicknesses that is coated with a pressure sensitive silicone adhesive. SpecBond offers proven readily available products for these applications. Click on a data sheet below for SpecBond’s 1 and 2 MIL versions:
